Chartered by the Greater Latrobe School District in 1998, Dr. Robert Ketterer Charter School (RKCS) provides educational services to approximately 225 disruptive students in grades 1 through 12.
RKCS provides a structured learning environment for students from a variety of backgrounds. Of the total number of students, 30 are youth from Greater Latrobe and surrounding school districts who are having academic and behavioral issues and whose parents referred them to the Charter School as an educational alternative. Approximately fifty students are youth in the Partial Hospitalization Program whose parents and school districts have referred them. The remaining 145 are youth who have been adjudicated through the court system and are placed in residential care at Adelphoi Village.
Utilizing PA certified teachers, the Dr. Robert Ketterer Charter School maintains a 15:1 student-to-teacher ratio. The school also provides a certified guidance counselor and special education instructors, as well as Title I math and language arts services.
Dr. Robert Ketterer Charter School works collaboratively with home, school and community to provide a safe, nurturing, supportive school environment with outcome-based treatment and high quality differentiated instruction in order for at-risk/disruptive students to progress academically, behaviorally and socially.
